What about me???? (makes sad face...) I'm an early-bird, too...or is that an early-egg...?

LOL! jeanne, you are incredible! thank you so much for hosting this event, and for including me! even without my own write-up, you have managed to make it quite...dramatic! can't wait now...just about another week until eotmeote 9! what will it be?!?!?!

you know - i feel kind of bad about not playing along properly
i was actually rewriting my plot for you, when 7/7 happened half way through.
After that I wasn't feeling all Mills & Boonsish for quite a while and I forgot about it

just to prove - I still have the draft [unedited] of the start of my story...

"Samantha was luxuriating in the knowledge she had an unexpected day off of work. She pretended, as her lover went about his daily ritual and got ready to leave for the office, that everything would be quite normal at home too. But lurking beneath her cool-as-a-cucumber surface, she was burning with a hot insatiable desire. Samantha had a fantasy, a burning urge, which she couldn't set aside. She needed to satisfy a longing, a craving, a private moment. She kissed her chosen one passionately goodbye, excited by the promise of the hour ahead. Samantha waited until she was sure the coast was quite clear, before rushing to the fridge. She pulled out a small package, carefully covered in soft, virginal white paper. As she unwrapped it a glorious smell of raw pork meat escaped from within..."

Jeanne, who cares about deadlines?! It was worth the wait! Many thanks for this latest EoMEoTE that really should have a bold E at the end for EXTRAextravaganza (I must admit that I'm quite nervous about what you'll dream up for the next round.)

-Elizabeth

Hey! I did EOTMEOTE once before! No fair. But you were right - the literary license I was given dragged me out of the lurking shadows.

My two daughters (who had nothing to do with the actual post apart from letting me overhear them fighting about breakfast, whether or not to let us lie in and how to cook eggs and toast) are both on a swim team and one of the other parents made some remark to me about perfidious calumny too - I had forgotten that I had told him about the blog.

Anyway - all great fun and what a wonderful roundup!

By the way, if you like literary parody, take a look at the entries to the Guardian's contest to write a particular (supposed) scene from the new Harry Potter in famous literary styles. I particularly liked the William Carlos Williams entry: [WARNING PLOT SPOILER _ DO NOT VISIT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW]]
http://books.guardian.co.uk/harrypotter/story/0,10761,1521817,00.html

but almost all of them were flat out brilliant.

Yay
Another fantastic roundup Jeanne :

Thank you, and yes...all is forgiven.

Hey cheers people, fantastic work, and especially so again Jeanne. I was shamed by Sam's comment into digging my drafts out of the wheely bin.

and Pim has crabs!

What?

They say that good things come to those who wait, but really, Jeanne, you've spoilt us! What a round-up!

You are one amazing EoMEoTE hostess. Even I could not make sense of my post. Thank you!

Hi Stephanie
A thousand apologies!! Felt like a real klutz when you mailed me... Problem now rectified though :-)

Hi Sarah
Glad you liked it! And it was easy as I had so much good raw material to work with :) As for EoMEoTE9, I guess the pressure is on to find something inspirational. Will let you know soooooon!

Hi Sam
Know what you mean about 7/7... But thanks for sharing your Mills & Boon draft with us! Love the virginal white paper... Clearly the eggs will meet a manly and experienced whisk somewhere along the line :o)

Hi Elizabeth
Awww, thanks! I like to give my readers value for money when I make them wait sooo long! I am frantically trying to come up with a suitable theme for EoMEoTE#9 - you will be the first to know as soon as inspiration strikes!

Hi Owen
My apologies - of course you have participated before! Premature senility is a terrible thing... I do love literary parody (have you seen the book How to Become Ridiculously Well-Read in One Evening??) but had not heard of the Guardian competition. The entries are hysterical!! Irvine Welsh does Harry Potter!! What a scream - thanks for the link. :)

Hi Clare
Thanks for the compliment - glad you enjoyed it!

Hi Anthony
Aaaah, some more fleshing out of the Johnny One-Cup character available on your site? Excellent! As for the crabs, I had no idea you and Pim were that, erm, close :o) Will add her shortly...

Hi Augustus
Hmmm, think I took the waiting idea to its logical extreme this time!! But glad you enjoyed it - thanks for joining in!

Hi Saffron,
Seeing in people's posts what the authors themselves did not see was the best part of all!! Thanks for providing me with fertile ground in which my imigination could run wild...!

Jeanne
You cheeky cow! : )

my piccy is ready for sunday's even, but wondering if we have a theme?
It better not be anything like "only savoury dishes this month" cos then I'll be truly buggered

Sam, Sam, Sam... How do you know me?? "Only savoury dishes" sounds far too much like a rule! And besides, where's the ovo-literary aspect to that?! I've got something far more fun in store for EoMEoTErs. The announcement goes up tomorrow and you'll have the whole of next week to post - trying not to clash too much with IMBB!

ooh goody - looking forward to it.
may just have to adjust my posting scehdule
i was worried about the clashing aspect so this is great.

ps - i knew you are very ruleless, but thought one day you might just spring a surprise on us
you know - just in case we were all getting to comfortable in our eggshells!
